E: do you think they are effective at all?
K: nope
E: because i am happy to pass on any insight
K: i think they were effective when i was in high school, or even when friendster/myspace were just starting off
now, i think myspace is the best way for people to find new music
and people seek it out there...
E: ok
K: if she already has a network of similar musicians and friends, the best way to go i think is to befriend the friends of similar artists
E: got it
K: or those that she plays shows with
or use things like youtube...
actually, there is a really amazing idea ive seen on a couple of sites -- videos of bands playing their music while walking down the street or in normal settings...i'll see if i can find an example
oh! here is the site where i first saw them... wow, love it. Blogotheque
and this is a band i like doing a video Au Revoir Simone
E: this is great
i am sending all this info to him
K: make the subject "the internet is the new street team"
...
K: the most successful people in my experience are the nicest
(not necessarily the most talented)...at least in underground music communities
E: thank you so much for your input-seriously
L: no worries! hey i have one more. this may be my favorite
Matt & Kim
...
E: i just used your punchline
sent him an email with everything you said
hahah
BAM!
